It's Kylie's last week of school. Summer vacation is almost here! It's hard to believe that her Kindergarten year is coming to an end. I feel like it was just yesterday that we were reading Julie Danneberg's, First Day Jitters. Now it's time for Last Day Blues! Once again, Danneberg managed to make a book equally appealing to the teacher and the students! These students of Mrs. Hartwell's class are so worried that she will be miss her students and be sad all summer long. All the while, the teachers are counting down the days to student free vacations! They recount the years accomplishments through a poem. I just love the idea of starting and ending the year with the same author and character. What a way to reflect!
Who's it for? This book is great for children ages 5 to 8. It's a great read aloud for the last days of school!
1. Create your own poem about all of the activities and accomplishments throughout the year based on the poem in the book. Illustrate them and create your own book.
2. Create a gift for your teacher at the end of the year by purchasing this book and signing and illustrating it! Your child's teacher will love it!!
