I pulled I Just Don't Like the Sound of No! My Story About Accepting No for an Answer and Disagreeing the Right Way! (Best Me I Can Be), by Julia Cook, off the shelf just in time! RJ just doesn't like the sound of no. It seems that every time he asks his mom for something, she says no! Why can't she say maybe or I'll think about it? It happens at school too. RJ's teacher often answers No! He is asked to join the Say YES to NO club. The book guides RJ through a valuable lesson about accepting no for an answer by saying okay, staying calm and asking questions later. Cook also goes an extra step and discusses ways to disagree with people appropriately. I am hoping that my kiddos will be joining the say YES to NO club soon!
