Tips on Tuesday: Writing Journals

Start a journal with your little ones! Write them notes, using words and phrases appropriate for their level. Have them read the entries and write back! Write about upcoming events or activities, books they've read or friends at school. This is a great way for kids to actively engage in reading, writing and communication. As your child learns new words, work them into your notes. Challenge them from time to time with difficult phrases or words and discuss them together. In the end, you will have a better reader and writer on your hands, you'll have a record of their progress AND you'll have a keepsake of the little events going on in your lives!
